Hydrangea Floral Styles
The Bridal Party’s Flowers – These are usually white and may be finished with a gilded ribbon or petal. Complementary bouquets are carried by every bridesmaid and the Bride’s flowers are a grander version, featuring just one to three types of flower, such as a lush clutch of lily of the valley. A lavish splash of flowers decorates all important areas of the wedding and reception site, following a simple, elegant color scheme. Learn how to make a bridal bouquet here.
A Timeless Bouquet – Is all white, but that doesn’t mean your bouquet has to be traditional. Just about any flowers these days can be clustered together to form a bouquet. With some full green leaves as background accents, or maybe few stems of stephanotis, the bouquet can bring lots of color or delicate interest.
When deciding a bouquet, consider flowers that don’t bruise easily and will withstand a day with little water. Roses create dazzling arrangements, but alternatives such as tulips arc just as dashing. Consider a plain hand-tied collection of stems, or a bouquet filled with just a few hand-picked roses and lots of filler flowers.
Sky Blue Hydrangeas
Delicate and voluptuous, blue hydrangeas are a captivating choice for wedding flowers. The frothy blooms seem to float in the hands of a bride or bridesmaid. They need no additional flowers or foliage for support—a dozen or so blooms make a full, glitzy bouquet that’s plain but chic. Or, combine them with a few other country-garden favorites for casual table arrangements.

Flowers & Materials:
- Blue hydrangea
- Gooseneck loosestrife
- Queen Ann’s lace
- Lavender mums
- Floral supplies
Preparation & Assembly:
- When picking garden hydrangea, pick older blooms—they work best if the flowers are going to be out of water for some time. Older blooms are identified as those that have dried slightly on the bush.
- Condition the hydrangeas for wooded branches.
- Arrange the flowers loosely in the jar, staring with the hydrangeas.
All the flowers dry nicely. This same combination of flowers could be used for a hand-tied bouquet.

Here are some tips for caring for and making sure your flower arrangement is left in a fresh condition for as long as possible:
* Use a clean vase and fill it with clean water.Renew the water and clean the vase out every 2-3 days.
This all reduces the chance of bacteria and fungal spores ruining you’re creation.
* Give the stems of the flowers and foilage a fresh, ‘angled’ cut to allow the water to absorb better into the flower/leaf.
* Remove any foliage and the like from the stem that will be sitting in the water. Failing to do so will encourage rot!
* Keep the arrangement away from the heat, either sunlight or radiated heat from an indoor heater or air conditioning unit as this will cause the flowers to wilt.
* Spray lightly with water with a mist spray gun to keep it moist.
